Amazon has hired Jason Tzau, PharmD, to lead the company’s push into the pharmacy industry, according to the Puget Sound Business Journal.
A pharmacist by training, Dr. Tzau serves as Amazon’s U.S. healthcare benefits principal. He joined earlier in December, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Amazon first posted the job in October, seeking experts with a firm grasp on “medical and pharmacy benefits, healthcare delivery systems, health management, wellness and behavioral health management,” according to the Business Journal.
In his role, Mr. Tzau will work closely with Amazon’s new healthcare company with Berkshire Hathaway and JPMorgan Chase.
The e-commerce giant has made several moves into the pharmaceutical industry, acquiring online pharmacy PillPack in June and building over-the-counter exclusive brands.
