Off the back of winning the 2017 World Strongest Man, Eddie Hall has embarked upon a strict diet and intense training regime that has seen him go from a 196kg behemoth to a lean 164kg hulk – that’s a huge drop of 32kg in the past year.
Taking to Instagram, Hall revealed the transformation is the result of him committing to five intense cardio sessions a week, made up of two boxing sessions, cycling, swimming and HIIT. Don’t worry weight lifting lovers, the loveable giant still commits to four weight sessions a week.

Was it as easy as it looks? Hell no. Hall has had to adapt his cardio training, so it was suitable for a strongman, a strongman that can deadlift 500kg.

On upping the amount of cardio he does, Hall said: “Cardio training for big guys is unique, you have to adapt it so that you don’t lose muscle and you don’t tire out. Using methods to not only improve your cardiovascular system but also help your body to recover after weight sessions by shifting lactic acid, helping the tendons, ligaments and muscles to repair.”

Hall says he’s now comfortable at this weight, but will continue to lose fat and add muscle, so expect 2019’s Hall to be even more jacked. If you’ve been avoiding cardio because you think you can’t build muscle at the same time, Hall is living proof that you’re talking nonsense.
