Uh, People Apparently Aren’t Allowed to Bring Up Meghan Markle and Prince Harry with the Queen

  • Apparently palace aides are warning the Queen’s guests not to bring up Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
  • The Queen was reportedly “hurt” that Meghan went to NYC instead of coming to Balmoral on holiday with the royals.

Awkward times at Buckingham Palace, apparently. According to a new report, palace aides are warning the Queen’s visitors that they shouldn’t bring up Meghan Markle and Prince Harry because she’s simply not here for that topic of convo.

A source tells The Sun that “Courtiers were aware the Sussexes are all anyone wants to ask her about. So to nip it in the bud some have taken to having a quiet word with some guests awaiting an audience with the Queen. They suggested that questions around Harry and Meghan may not be the best choice as a topic of polite conversation. Naturally it’s informal rather than any official policy and there’s no suggestion the Queen is even aware.”

This report comes off a since-deleted tweet from journalist Quentin Letts, who wrote “Friend of an acquaintance was about to go riding with HMQ [Her Majesty the Queen]. Was given v firm advice. ‘Talk about anything except one subject.’ Brexit? ‘No. The Sussexes.'”

Meanwhile, The Daily Mail reports that the Queen was “hurt and disappointed” that Meghan flew to New York City to see Serena Williams play at the US Open instead of joining the royal family on vacation in Balmoral. The Queen was looking forward to “a few days of merry chaos” with her great-grandchildren including Archie, but to be fair on Meghan this was a HUGE moment for Serena and there’s nothing wrong with supporting a close friend!
