I don’t know about some of this stuff personally but really I cant imagine how hard it would be to have to go to a doctor and ask for Herpes cream or Chlamydia medications. If you are one of the people that would be embarrassed by such an interaction it might be important for you to know that there is a way to go about this. There are certain websites online that will actually allow you to buy medications, pills and products without a prescription from your doctor.
The main thing you have to go through is a mandatory consultation done by a US Certified Physician. But obviously since this is the Internet, these doctors cant see you, the information you give is private and the only reason they ask for a consultation is to make sure you are getting the best medication for your problem.
Of course this doesn’t just have to do with STD, some of these websites do have other sexual health products as well but I find it be really important to mention that those “other” medications are available as well. Here are a few examples of some of the products these websites offer:
Zovirax is used to treat herpes infections of the skin, lip, and genitals; herpes zoster (shingles); and chickenpox. It does not cure herpes infections but decreases pain and itching and promotes healing. Topical Zovirax does not prevent the recurrence of sores but may decrease pain and itching if applied when the earliest symptoms first appear.
Oral Zovirax decreases the frequency and severity of recurrent sores, but it is used only by people with severe herpes infections because of possible adverse effects. This medication is sometimes prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.
Valtrex is indicated for the treatment of herpes zoster (shingles), for the treatment or suppression of genital herpes in immunocompetent individuals and for the suppression of recurrent genital herpes in HIV-infected individuals and is also indicated for the treatment of cold sores (herpes labialis).
Famvir is an oral antiviral prescription medication that is prescribed for: treatment of recurrent genital herpes in otherwise healthy patients; suppression of recurrent genital herpes in otherwise healthy patients; treatment of recurrent herpes simplex virus infections (genital herpes and cold sores) in HIV-infected patients and herpes zoster (shingles).
Denavir is a topical antiviral medication used for recurrent cold sores (herpes labialis) on the lips and face in otherwise healthy adult patients. Denavir topical may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.
Condylox is the first ever FDA approved product that treats genital warts. The active ingredients in Condylox get right to the problem and start treating your genital warts immediately. Condylox is indicated for the topical treatment of anogenital warts (external genital warts and perianal warts).
Acyclovir is used to treat herpes infections of the skin, lip, and genitals; herpes zoster (shingles); and chickenpox. It does not cure herpes infections but decreases pain and itching and promotes healing. Sometimes acyclovir is given to help prevent the infection from coming back. Acyclovir also treats shingles and chickenpox infections. This medication is sometimes prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.
Aldara Cream is used to treat external genital and perianal warts and is different from most other treatments. It is a patient-applied cream that helps the body fights the virus instead of just getting rid of the warts. So Aldara Cream actually treats warts from the inside out.
As you can see from the options above, there are all kinds of options available to you out there on the Internet. These websites also have other medications and products available as well depending on what it is that you need. For those of you still worried about the actual consultation, it isn’t a test.
Its merely a questionnaire that will allow the Doctor to “prescribe” the best medication to you. Heck in some cases you might think you have something and it turns out you have something else altogether! This is what those consultations are for. No sense in taking a medication for something you don’t have!
