LOL, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner Are Starring in a ‘Princess Bride’ Parody

  • Joe Jonas and wife Sophie Turner are starring in a gender-swap remake of The Princess Bride.
  • Other A-listers will also make appearances in the quarantine parody.

It was recently announced that a new version of The Princess Bride is set to air June 29 on Quibi. Sophie Turner and husband Joe Jonas will star as Westley and Princess Buttercup, respectively. The remake parody will serve as a homage to the 1987 classic, and it will include almost every celeb on earth. Don’t believe us? Let’s run down the list.

Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Garner, Elijah Wood, Jon Hamm, Beanie Feldstein, Lucas Hedges, Jenna Ortega, Jack Black, David Oyelowo, Keegan-Michael Key, Patton Oswalt, Josh Gad, Andy Serkis, Diego Luna, Taika Waititi, and Zazie Beetz will all appear in the DIY project.

So, is this going to be shot on an iPhone or something? Kind of. Director Jason Reitman is going to string together footage shot by the celebs during quarantine. The project is even raising money for the World Central Kitchen (thanks to Quibi’s generous donation).

“The week that the stay-at-home order came through in California, I just woke up one of the first mornings, I think like most people did, feeling as though, all right, I need to be able to do something of value,” he told Vanity Fair. “I just thought, ‘Can we remake an entire movie at home?’ And I had seen that a fan-made Star Wars had been done. I just started reaching out to actors I knew, saying, ‘Is this something you’d want to do?’ And the response was kind of immediate and fast. It was like, ‘Oh—that sounds like fun.'”

We recommend watching the original before viewing the parody. “If you already know the movie, that’s what makes it fun,” Jason added. “The audience already knows every line. I had no reservations. I was like, ‘Nah, let’s do it!'”
